FamilyDay@theCenter: New Architecture in the Middle East

Families will explore the Center for Architecture's current exhibition on architecture in the Middle East, then design a building for this part of the world, using ideas from the exhibition and their own imaginations.

Two sessions: 11 AM - 1 PM or 2 - 4 PM

 

Families will explore the Center for Architecture’s current exhibition CHANGE: Architecture and Engineering in the Middle East 2000 - Present to see the wide range of new structures being built there, and consider how the qualities of a place, such as climate, resources, and tradition, affect the local architecture. Families will then have a chance to design their own building for this part of the world, using ideas from the exhibition and their own imaginations.

 

Pre-Registration Required.

 

 

 

Family Day Programs are designed for children ages 5 – 13 years old, accompanied by an adult. Admission is $20/family of 4; $10 for Center for Architecture Foundation Dual/Family Members; additional guests accompanying a family admission are $5 each.

City of Mirages: Baghdad, 1952-1982  was organized by Col•legi d'Arquitectes de Catalunya in Barcelona.

The US debut of City of Mirages: Baghdad, 1952-1982 at the Center for Architecture in New York is presented by the AIA New York Chapter and the Center for Architecture Foundation.
