Rooftop GreenHouse Design Build - NYC iSchool
The greenhouse design/build project at New Design High School began as a charrette in which students were asked to consider a master plan for New Design High School's outdoor rooftop space, considering the relationship between the existing structures and the surrounding context. Eric Ratkowski worked with the students to distill the best attributes of their individual designs into one plan suitable to build. Students then began to built the full-scale structure turning their designs into a working greenhouse. During this residency, students experienced firsthand the challenges involved in transforming an idea into a two-dimensional drawing and then a full-scale structure.
